The Big Little Library Book Flood which took place on Saturday 3rd December was a huge success. They gave away double the number of books from the previous year. There’s no membership required, you just visit, choose what you’d like and take them away.
Unlike normal libraries, there’s no need to return the books because the BIG Little Library has enough donations to keep the library well stocked.
Lisa Mitchell, Community Co-ordinator at Gateacre School said “This year’s book flood was incredible, and we would like to give our thanks to all the team at Belle Vale Shopping Centre and IM Group Services. Without their support we wouldn’t have supported the community by giving away a staggering 1,363 in one day as well as 47,663 books throughout 2022.”
Denise, Belle Vale Shopping Centre management said “It’s an honour to have the Big Little Library within the centre. They occupy an empty unit, and they support the community in so many ways. They not only give free books via the Book Flood, but they offer a free community drop-in book hub throughout the year. They are a much-loved meeting place. There’s shared reading, story times, performances and more. We’d also like to thank our community for their support with donations.”
